Admittedly, many girls face the same dilemma of “what to get my boyfriend for Christmas?”. You can easily find tons of online suggestions about gift ideas. A pair couple rings, personalized mugs, couple pillows…there are many gifts you can think of. But knowing what you should not give your boyfriend is equally important. 1. Give him money

I just don’t get it. If you don’t know what to buy him, ask him or simply don’t buy anything at all. Just spending time with him can be enough. Why giving money to a guy as present like a mother giving pocket money to a child? Can you imagine how disappointed and angry he will feel?

2. Give the wrong type of gift for the current relationship status

Before you get your boyfriend a gift, you should know where you two are now. Are you guy just dating for a few weeks or are you together for years? Will you get engaged soon or are you even thinking about breaking up with him not long after Christmas? Have you just moved in together? Did you meet his family? At the beginning of a relationship, sweet and funny gifts are nice. Giving your boyfriend something drastic or too expensive at that point is inappropriate and you may end up scaring him away. 3. Give him gift cards

There are still people who do so. But gift cards are impersonal. A concert ticket works much better. People react to gift cards differently, they may think it is fine or they can absolute hate them as Christmas gift because they expect more sincere attitude.

4. Give him greeting cards

Nothing wrong with greeting cards but they are not as effective as little note stick on your gifts. What will the guys do with greeting cards anyway? Throw them away? Stuff them in a box of junk stuff he never intends to use again? You can be very angry when you find that the greeting card decorated with your love and passion ends up on the trash bin. Or maybe a box full of cards from his exes.

5. Buy him clothes

Again, giving your boyfriend clothes is not wrong. But clothes you can buy from the stores are boring. And isn’t it the task of his mother? If you want to dress up, give him a customized couple T-shirts and knit him a scarf by yourself. Or at least a hard-to-find pair of vintage jean. A fan club T-shirt of his favorite band. These gifts tell your guy it truly takes you time and effort to find the right gift rather than selecting it randomly at any department store.

6. Buy him supplies like makeup, teeth whitener…

Come on, are these the types of Christmas gift you expect? You can give your boyfriend these gifts on any occasion but not Christmas. That is not to mention many people hate these impersonal stuff as gifts because they can certainly buy them when necessary. Do you imply that your boyfriend’s teeth are not white enough? Some may even take offense in such gift.   

7. Give him bad food

It is Christmas and you won’t want your boyfriend feel sick eating your food. He may even end up spending his holiday in the hospital if he gets allergic with an ingredient in your food. Make sure you check your ingredient careful before making: they certainly aren’t spoiled. Ask your boyfriend or people around him to make sure he can eat the type of food you make.

8. Forget about non-material gifts

There are times you forget what a true gift is about when you are too obsessed with finding the right one for your boyfriend. If he really likes you and be sensitive enough, he will appreciate any gift that he knows comes from your heart. The best gift can be just the time you dedicate to spend with him, like a dinner for two, or a handwritten-letter that tells him how much you love him. A scarf you spend months knitting for him even though he knows you are not good at it. A simple video message or photoshopped image can work wonders. After all, don’t be too stressful in finding gifts for your boyfriend. You heart will tell you what to do
